Hat I

thumb_hat_001_wip_b.jpeg

A black alpaca skullcap done in stockinette with 5 P2 ridges evenly spaced. The red is on the inside, just for fun. In theory it should be reversible, but there’s a mistake in the red (I’m not showing) that makes it unlikely. The hat is complete, and looks pretty good inside out, but I don’t have pictures yet.

[29 Jan-23 Feb 05]

Misti Alpaca Worsted; 1 skein black (color 8903) and almost a full skein of red (color 3620); 50g/109yds/4 ply; knit on #5 dpns

Bad News, Good News

I have medical confirmation that I “have a really bad virus and probably a bacterial infection on top of that.” Then she subtly but quickly moved over to the sink and washed her hands vigorously. I would have too.

You know you’re not faking when the doctor interviews you from the other side of the room.

And I should not go to work tomorrow unless I really do want to give it to everyone else. Since I’m the one who complains loudest when the (physically) sick people come in, I’ll just have to suffer.

Unfortunately, what I have in my meager stash of yarn doesn’t line up with what I want to work on. I’ll work on swatching, I guess. Between naps.

Is there some reason Norton Anti-Virus has to steal the focus just to inform me my virus definitions have been updated. Here I am typing and nothing’s coming up.

I Like Random Things

From Comments From Left Field - BLOG:

Try this and pass it on:

  • Grab the nearest book.
  • Open the book to page 123.
  • Find the fifth sentence.
  • Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
  • Don’t search around and look for the “coolest” book you can find. Do what’s actually next to you.
  • I’m afraid to admit its Cities of the Red Night by William S. Burroughs:

“Kiki got a wet towel and rubbed his chest, face, and neck.”

Pointless, yes. And while I remember reading the book, I can’t remember the plot at all. It survived a recent book purge because I felt I could re-read it as if it were new.

The Hat is Finished

Yea! The hat is done. Pictures tomorrow after I’ve blocked it.

Ever since I really got into knitting, I’ve wanted to knit through conference calls. It’s more productive than doodling, of which I am a master. Today, as an odd benefit of being home, probably as contagious as Typhoid Mary, I did. Considering how much I got done today and the number of incredibly boring calls I’ve been on in the last six months, I’ve missed out on half a dozen scarfs at least.

Delirium

Clearly I was delirious and frustrated. Who frogs 8 rounds out of the inside of a hat? I just dropped the stitches down and picked it up correctly with a crochet hook, then distributed the slackness. Close enough. It will work out when I block it.
